How to Renew Spotify Subscription in Nigeria

After Spotify launched in Nigeria, It was easy to pay for and renew your Spotify Subscription with any MasterCard or Visa debit card issued by Nigerian banks.

The reverse has been the case recently. I have accounts with GTBank, Zenith Bank, Access Bank, Kuda Bank and Barter, none of their debit cards or virtual cards worked when I tried to renew my Spotify subscription.

I have discovered a solution to this.

  2. Upgrade your Gomoney account.

  4. Fund your Gomoney account
  5. Renew your Spotify subscription with Gomoney virtual card.

Let’s get started with each step above.

After downloading, create an account. You can use my referral code “chrisa” in the option for referral code.

You will need to provide your BVN and other basic details to complete your registration.

Upgrade your Gomoney account

Once you complete the first stage of the Gomoney registration, you will be upgraded to the Tier 2 level.

As a Tier 2 user, you will be issued a Gomoney account number, you can send and receive money but you won’t be able to apply for a Gomoney virtual card.

Hence, you need to upgrade to Tier 3.

You can do this by verifying your account with a valid means of identification.

Gomoney accepts the following identity cards;

  1. NIN slip.
  2. NIN card. (mine wasn’t accepted though)
  3. Voters card.
  4. International passport.

Open the Gomoney app, click on the user icon to access the settings.

Take a selfie of yourself then snap and upload your means of identification.

While taking the selfie, I observed that you need to take the camera a bit far from your face before you will be instructed to blink your eye slowly.

**Gomoney really needs to work on the app.

Your means of identification has to be clear enough.

If your means of identification is accepted, you will be notified almost immediately. If your identity card or slip was rejected after the first trial, it takes Gomoney 48 hours to verify when you reupload.

Once you are done with this step, proceed to the next step.
